The Jazz singer Nancy Wilson a three-time Grammy Award winner was born February 20, 1937, in Ohio, Chillicothe. She was the daughter of iron worker Olden Wilson, and former Lillian Ryan who worked as a domestic servant. Nancy was one of six kids. Nancy was a child who listened to records from her father as well as his enthusiasm for music. As young as four years old, she realized she would be a singer. The talent she developed was cultivated by her involvement in the church choir. In less than a month, she was singing in The Blue Morocco Night Club situated on Boston Road near The Bronx. The representative of Adderley heard her sing and immediately agreed to sign her. The agent he was working with signed her up to Capitol in the year 1960. Her debut was that year. Guess Who? Capitol released five Nancy Wilson Albums in 2 years. Adderley influenced her to move away from R&B and to focus on jazz and torch song. Their collaboration in 1962 with Nancy Wilson and Cannonball Adderley led her to the top as she released her biggest smash Tell Me the Truth in 1963. This brought her a gig at the New York's Coconut Grove the premier night club in America that year, and she was a household name.
